2015 Merle Harpst Winners Announced:
The Prestigious Annual Merle Jane Harpst Awards were given at the Tri Valley Health System Holiday party on Saturday night, January 10, 2015 at the Cambridge Community Building.  The award is named for the late Merle Jane Harpst, longtime employee and administrator at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Tri Valley Health System.  The award is funded by Merle Jane’s son and his wife, Don and Alice Harpst of McCook. 

Two awards are presented each year.  Nominations are requested for both licensed and non-licensed employees.  The recipients of this honor each received a monetary gift and a plaque in appreciation.  Each year nominations are received from employees nominating their co-workers.  The criterion for this award is the individual that sets an outstanding example of caring service for residents and patients. This individual also represents Tri Valley Health System in a positive manner; someone who always seems to go the extra mile in service to others and has a positive attitude. 

This year’s winners are non-licensed employee Zoie Nicholson, Lead Medication Aide and licensed winner is Kay Markut, LPN Rural Health Clinics.  The licensed nominees this year were; Judy Hayes and Kay Markut.  Non-licensed nominees included; Wendy Shifflet, Georgia Sexton, Zoie Nicholson.  The awards were presented by Mark Harpst.

Cambridge, NE-In observance of Nursing Home Week, May 10 to 16, 2015 Cambridge Manor will be hosting several events meant to encourage residents, families and other close relatives to reach out to visit with their loved ones and caregivers. In fact everyone can get into party mode because the American Health Care Association (ACHA)designated it as the week to “Bring on the Fiesta,” which is what we will do.
“Our staff wants to make this a special time of entertainment and education for all while focusing on bringing to life the week’s sub theme of Family, Life, and Love” said Joyce Deaver. “This is a special time. We want everyone to celebrate with residents and patients,enjoying the crowds, the activities and the feelings engendered by the theme”.
Monday: Flower Power Day: 2:30 pm planting flowers around the manor
Tacky Tuesday: 2:30 pm Nails and Piñata project.
Wednesday Fiesta Day: Patio Picnic, churros and ice cream with a nacho chip stacking contest
Thursday: 1:00 pm Resident and Staff Stroll 2:30 Bingo
Friday: TVHS Day 11:00 am Piñata toss, 2:30 pm Fiesta categories game.
